JONES WELCOMES NEW PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ANNOUNCED FOR HART MEMORIAL SCHOOL
After vigorous lobbying over a period of years by UKIP Cllr David Jones we are please to learn a puffin crossing is to be installed in January at the pedestrian entrance to the Hart Memorial School in Portadown.
Commented Cllr Jones, “I am delighted to have received this information. It has always been a great concern of mine that Primary school children did not have a crossing at such a busy road at school times. Hopefully there will not be too much disruption while the work takes place but it will be worth it to protect young lives. I thank those at TransportNI who have facilitated this crossing. It is a good news story leading up to Christmas.”
The school lost its crossing patrol person in 2006 and has been without one since.
Cllr Jones has been at the forefront of a campaign, assisted by the Portadown Times, to have a crossing provided.
Said Cllr Jones, “I simply could never Square the circle where a crossing patrol person was provided for your adults at Portadown College and yet the Education Board could not find resources to provide one at the Hart Memorial Primary. I am glad the problem will now be resolved with a permanent puffin crossing.”
