I was a Leave counting agent at the Lagan Valley count (Northern Ireland was counted by Westminster constituencies not local authorities). I seemed to be tallying all the Remain stronghold boxes and was plunging into despondency when at last I tallied a box from a big social housing area and got about 60% Leave. In the end the result was announced as 53% Leave – better than the National Average. Let nobody tell you Northern Ireland voted solidly remain. Up the road a bit in North Antrim it was 62% Leave. A roller coaster of a night and the long lead up campaign and great to be a part of it.
