Councillors

Councillor David Jones is married with two grown up daughters. He is sixty five years old and is a lifetime Portadown resident. David is very much in touch with local issues being an integral part of the local community.

Having worked for thirty years as a Social Worker –  in the Armagh and Dungannon Health and Social Service Trust, and latterly the Southern Health and Social Care trust; he took early retirement in 2012.

Councillor Jones was initially elected to the legacy Craigavon Borough Council for Portadown in 2000 as an Independent. Having retained his seat in the following election, he did not stand in the 2011 election.

With the advent of Council reorganisation and having taken early retirement; David stood under the UKIP banner in 2014, again in the Portadown DEA and was successful in being elected to the new Armagh City, Banbridge, Craigavon Borough Council.

Since his election, Cllr. Jones has continued to serve the local community on the Environmental Services Committee, (including one year as deputy Chair) Governance and PR and the Planning Committee with its newly allocated delegated powers at Council.

David currently continues to work with the local and business communities of his area in an effort to improve the quality of life for all. He has a special interest in health and care in the community.
